I'm a great fan of war artist Ivor Hele who for a while back in 1942 was embedded with the 2/3 Independent Company (later known as Commando Squadron) in which my father and uncle (mother's brother) served - Uncle Norman KIA July 1942 - as I understand it before Hele was with the unit. Hele used conte quite extensively. BTW many of his 'war' works are on display at the Australian War Memorial but in his later years became a recluse on an island off the Queensland coast and painted erotic pictures of his wife. Won the Archibald at least once. So here's my bash at using conte crayon. A mood sketch of Miss Patches who is often in a bad mood since I rescued Little Zoe from a life of sex slavery at the croc farm.
